The films created at the successful workshop at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in March in Belgrade are now being produced in full swing.  In the meantime, the first team, directed by Milica Djenic, has completed filming “Grandfather Kovacs”, based on a script by ANSICHTSACHE 3 winner Mónica Koncz (2011 MDR Literature Prize finalist).  The cameras of the other teams are still rolling…

The young filmmakers are being mentored by well known Serbian film makers Goran Markovic, Stefan Arsenijevic, Oleg Novkovic and Narcisa Darijevic, as well as Artistic Director Cathy de Haan from Germany.

A total of six short films based on the scripts developed in the workshop will be produced in the following weeks, which will be premiered at the FilmFestival Cottbus – Festival of East European Cinema – in November.

First there was a seminar on script writing at the Deutsche Literaturinstitut Leipzig (German Creative Writing Programme - DLL). In a competition a jury of media experts nominated six winners for the co-operation with the film academy.
Even those of us who couldn’t be there at seminar don’t have to miss out on the creative atmosphere of the workshops: the students of the Deutsche Literaturinstitut have created a personal “story of the day” out of their impressions from the workshop.  Illustrated with their own photos and crossing literary genres – poetry, prose and drama – these six ironic, poetic and always intriguing texts are available now:
